Best days out

Cornwall has many attractions and being located mid way between the north and south coast with easy access to the A30 you have a perfect base at Rosewyn for a great day out.

Remember that in the height of the season you are not alone so the roads will get busy and the car parks will fill.  Make and early start or perhaps go later in the day.

Truro is the nearest city and has a good park and ride system.  The Cathedral is well worth a visit as is the Hall for Cornwall. If you do book tickets for teh Hall for Cornwall do not use the park and rise as it closes at 8.00pm.

Our Favourites ...

St Ives a
St Ives

If you do any day trip then do this one!  Renowned for having perfect light that has attracted artists always.  A small fishing harbour and now tourist mecca.  Our advice to avoid the stress of driving and instead take the single track branch line train from St Erth.  Directly accessible from the A30 at Hayle the South Car Park is large and has direct access to the platform, where in the summer a ticket inspector will sell you a car park and train ticket for a few pounds (use you railcard!).

Lanhydrock
Lanhydrock House

Just 13 miles east on the A30 and you will find the jewel in the crown of The National Trust.  A truly magnificent house and large grounds with pleanty of walking and cycle tracks. Our favourite ad-on again involves trains!  Check out the Bodmin and Wenford Railway for a steam, or diesel ride from Bodmin parkway (access to Lanhydrock) through to Bodmin and on to Boscarne Junction.

Eden project
Eden Project

10 miles away is the unique Eden Project, using their own words:- "Our home in Cornwall used to be a barren landscape – a former clay mine with no soil or plants. We transformed this huge crater into a beautiful global garden, which sets the stage for an extraordinary day out where you’ll rediscover the natural world as you've never experienced it before."  There are a number of access points so try using PL24 2SG in your satnav or 'eden project in Waze.
